Spreading Hope: Gospel Life’s Expanding Reach

From Malawi to Mozambique: Equipping Leaders and Empowering Students for Eternity

By your prayers and support, Gospel Life is not only expanding and thriving in Malawi, but we’re now also reaching into Mozambique! As we continue to support evangelism and discipleship among college students and train pastors, we’re engaging in work that truly lasts for eternity.

College Ministry Conference: Equipping the Next Generation

At the end of May and beginning of June, our team from Overland Church teamed up with brothers and sisters from Unity Bible and Mulunguzi Community churches in Zomba. Our goal? To reach multiple college campuses in the region and host a college conference. The team had so many great evangelistic conversations, even while just playing hacky sack!

The all-day conference truly encouraged and challenged believing students. One student shared this powerful testimony:

“The environment you cultivated was not only enriching but also empowering. The insights shared, the connections made, and the space for authentic growth have left a lasting impact on me both personally and professionally. I left the event feeling not only inspired, but also equipped to move forward with renewed purpose and clarity.”

Because of your giving, we were able to give each conference attendee an Old Testament book by Mitch Chase.

Pastor Training: Strengthening Leaders, Building Foundations

While the Overland team was in Malawi, Overland’s lead pastor, Zack Thurman, and other team members taught at the Shepherds Academy near Lake Chilwa. This group meets for multiple weeks during Malawi’s “winter” months, as farming season keeps them incredibly busy.

We also launched a brand new Shepherds Academy group in Mulanje District! Isaac and Patrick kicked off this first experience by focusing on the most important thing: the gospel and how to share it.

Dive Deeper: The Gospel Life Story

Want to go deeper into the story of what God has been doing with Gospel Life over the past year? I’d love to invite you to listen to a podcast episode that Zack, Isaac, and I recorded earlier this month.

You can watch on YouTube or listen on Spotify or Apple Podcasts.

Stepping into Mozambique: A New Chapter of Impact

Last year, Isaac took an exploratory trip to Mozambique and connected with pastors who were eager to receive their own Bibles and learn more about God’s Word. This Saturday, Isaac and Patrick are heading back to Mozambique! Then, from Monday, June 30th to Friday, July 4th, they’ll be leading the first Shepherds Academy to cross the border and train pastors in Mozambique.

Please be in prayer for Isaac, Patrick, and the pastors during this time. Mozambique has stabilized since the violence following last year’s elections, but it’s still an uncertain place. Nevertheless, we are convinced that equipping these village pastors is one of the greatest works we can be involved in.

Come Say Hello: Preaching in Kentucky

If you’re in Kentucky and would like to hear more about the heart of Gospel Life, I’ll be preaching at Union Baptist Church in Hawesville, Kentucky on Sunday, July 6th. The service begins at 10 AM Central Time. I’d love to see many of you there!

Equip Your Church to Pray

Finally, to help you and your church lift up Gospel Life in prayer, we’re releasing new prayer cards focusing on Isaac and his family. If you’d like to receive a stack, please reach out to me by email.
