For years, as I lived in Malawi, my heart longed to see a greater spiritual influence on the vibrant college campuses that dotted the landscape. Little did I realize that the seeds of that prayer would blossom in a way I never anticipated—through leaving Malawi and moving to Fort Collins, Colorado. Now, serving at Overland Church, located in the home of Colorado State University, I’m privileged to be part of a partnership with Unity Bible Church, creating pathways to share the gospel with Malawi’s next generation of leaders by leveraging our students at Overland and others.

Reaching Malawian College Students for Christ
Driven by a heart for college evangelism and discipleship, a team of students from Overland Church at Colorado State University will travel to Zomba, Malawi, at the end of May. This team will partner with Gospel Life, joining forces with Unity Bible Church and Mulunguzi Community Church to share the transformative message of the gospel with the student populations of the University of Malawi, Malawi College of Health Sciences, and Domasi College of Education—representing around 15,000 young people from across the country.
Their week will culminate in a college conference hosted at Mulunguzi Community Church, where an anticipated 250 students will gather to be further equipped and encouraged by the teaching of Overland’s lead pastor, Zack Thurman.
Please join us in praying for this team’s journey and ministry in Malawi from May 23rd through June 4th.
Building for Growth in Malawi
For a long time, our partner church in Malawi, Unity Bible Church (UBC), has been prayerfully pursuing a permanent facility to accommodate their expanding ministry. Their current meeting space in a hotel conference center is no longer sufficient for their growing needs and vision for broader community impact.
They have identified a strategic piece of land near the University of Malawi that would provide an ideal base for their weekly activities. Recognizing the significant kingdom impact of a thriving, doctrinally sound church in this university area, we also acknowledge the financial challenge of this sought-after location, with a total cost around $100,000 (including existing buildings).
Believing in God’s abundant provision, we are joining with other partner churches to facilitate an initial $40,000 down payment.
To support this crucial step for UBC, please give through the “Special Projects” option on our giving platform.
