Sad News. Our family is leaving Malawi.

How you can pray for our family and ministry team during our final days

After much prayer and seeking of wisdom, we have made the difficult decision for our family to leave Malawi and return to North America this spring. Since we first felt called to Malawi, Stacy Leigh and I have desired to spend most of our lives serving here, but due to several changing circumstances, it became clear the Lord was indicating that our assignment here is over.

At this point, we do not know where God is calling us to serve next, but we will be sharing those details with you over the coming months. We will also be sharing with you about the future of the work we’ve been a part of in Malawi and how our team will continue to serve the Lord by planting churches and training pastors.

However, for now, we deeply desire your prayers as we say goodbye to friends and a place we love. We are stepping out by faith into an unknown future and into what will be a drastic and difficult transition for us after living cross-culturally for almost six years.

Teaching and Practicing Evangelism and Discipleship

In January, we were blessed to be joined by Drs. Chuck Henderson and John Newland who taught our college students Personal Evangelism and Discipleship. Chuck and John brought a lot of ministry wisdom to the classroom.

Toward the end of the week, Isaac Dzimbiri took students into a Muslim village to practice what they were learning, and students planted many gospel seeds among Muslims that we pray will grow to maturity and bear fruit.

Discipleship and Leadership Conferences

Over the past two weeks, Pastor Zack Thurman joined us to host pastors conferences in the Lower Shire and in Zomba. Zack taught pastors on a topic that he is both passionate about and that he has put into practice at his church: discipling believers and training leaders. He gave a vision for a church not as a place of performance, but as a place of growth into Christ-like maturity.

Coming Days

On February 19, Shepherds Academy students will return for what will be my final semester teaching. Then after preaching in my final graduation, our family will begin our journey back to the U.S.

Please pray that God will help us finish strong, sufficiently meet the many needs of our kids and our team, and juggle the multitude of decisions that have to be made while leaving a home on one side of the world and restarting life in a new home on the other.

We are incredibly thankful for all of you who continue to pray for and support our family and our ministry team. As the Lord shapes the future of this ministry, we know that you will continue on this journey of service for God’s glory.
